Notes: Notes regarding Don Ellis BandScript for opera version of “Green Hills of Earth” written at Don Ellis’ proposal that he write the libretto for “a modern jazz-rock opera” for Hamburg. Ellis wanted to do The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, but Heinlein didn’t see how it could be adapted as an opera, proposing instead “The Green Hills of Earth,” which Ellis wasn’t interested in doing.
